AMD vs Nvidia

Technology #gpu#nvidia#AMD

In this article, we are going to discuss some of the major differences between the two big competitors of the tech industry and their famous GPUs i.e AMD and Nvidia.

    AMD

Advanced Micro Devices, popularly known as AMD, is an American multinational semiconductor company founded by Jerry Sanders in May 1969. Some of its major products are embedded systems applications, workstations, graphics processors, motherboard chipsets, and microprocessors.

    Nvidia

Nvidia Corporation is an American multinational technology company, founded by Jensen Huang, Curtis Priem, and Chris Malachowsky in April 1993. It designs GPUs for the professional and gaming markets as well as system on chip units ( SoCs) for the mobile computing sector.

    Features of AMD's GPU

Here are some of the features of AMD's popular Radeon RX Graphics Series:

    • It delivers ultra-high frame rates using 72 compute units.
    • It has the latest 128 MB AMD Infinity Cache.
    • It provides a large amount of GDDR6 memory.
    • It features 16GB of VRAM.
    • It is powered by AMD RDNA 2 architecture.

    Features of Nvidia's GPU

Here are some of the features of Nvidia's popular GeForce GTX Graphics Series:

    • It has Kepler GPU Architecture for max performance in DirectX 11 Games.
    • To render fluctuating framerates, it provides Adaptive Vertical Sync.
    • The TXAA AntiAliasing mode reduces shimmering during gameplay.
    • It is NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready, for an immersive and stereoscopic 3D experience.
    • For a more dynamic and realistic gaming experience, it features NVIDIA PhysX Technology.

Below we are stating some of the major differences between various Graphics cards of both AMD and Nvidia, segment-wise

    Entry-level segment

There are very few options available in a budget segment from either side, being similar in terms of performance and pricing some of the viable options are GTX 1650 Super and GTX 1660 Super from Nvidia and RX 580 and RX 590 from AMD.

    Mid-Tier Segment

The Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 has all the software features offered by Nvidia. The AMD RX 6800 is more powerful but slightly more expensive in terms of raw gaming performance.

    High-End Segment

The Nvidia RTX 3080 and AMD RX 6800 XT are best for high-end performance without paying greatly. The AMD RX 6800 XT offers slightly better performance, but the RTX 3080 is much better when it comes to ray tracing performance in your games.

    For Extreme/Pro Gamers

With the AMD RX, 6900 XT, and the Nvidia RTX 3090 you can have the best possible gaming experience. In this case, AMD offers the same performance numbers at a much lower price tag.

    Conclusion

AMD Graphics Cards comes on the top if the value for money is considered. But if the budget issues are kept aside, Nvidia Graphics Cards provides much better software features. Even if we check the specific performance numbers of cards available in every price segment, Nvidia always stands out as the best choice for most gaming enthusiasts.
