Post-Holiday Syndrome: How to Get Your Study Back on Track

    For most college students, the winter holidays are a fantastic time when they have a break from classes, exams, books, those demanding professors assigning tons of coursework, constant stress by tough deadlines for endless college papers that you can’t meet, and the anxiety caused by the desire to finish your work on time.

    Winter break was fun while it lasted. You may feel a bit sad when the holidays are over or even get stressed when you realize how much you need to do when you get back to the college routine. There is no need to worry because you are not the only person having this condition.

    Coming back to college after holidays

    When the winter holidays over and you return back to college, many students might experience low moods, lack of energy and motivation. Getting back on track usually takes several weeks, so you should take it easy as you transition back to a usual routine. You can cope with it successfully if you follow these easy tips.

    Plan Ahead

    A few days before you get back to college, try to wake up and go to bed a little earlier than you did during your vacation. You should also have meals at the same time as you usually do at college so your body will be able to adjust to your typical schedule. If you try to keep a balance every day, it will be easier for you to get used to the new reality when you come back to college.

    Establish Long-Term Goals

    Before your classes begin again, you should make a list of things you want to achieve in this semester. Be realistic and set goals that you can achieve. Create a list of all your goals on a piece of paper and stick in on a bulletin board or your mirror. You will be able to see this list every day and won’t forget your objectives.

    Make a Schedule

    During a term, you have a regular schedule for your classes. Now, try to make a schedule for extracurricular activities, study times, and gym sessions. Plan your activity in social life around your schedule and do your best to stick to it. Create a to-do-list and follow it every day, trying to pursue your goals.

    Exercise

    Keep moving every day. In this way, you will keep your body in shape and develop healthy lifestyle habits. Exercising will also make you more satisfied with your life, help you relax.

    Eat Right

    Try to develop healthy eating habits. Never skip breakfast and have all your meals at the same time. Try to keep a balanced diet with enough protein and fiber. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables. Avoid processed food and junk food. Eating healthy food will help you stay focused all day long,

    When you return to college after a well-deserved break, getting back into the swing of things can be rather tough. But if you follow these tips, some of the hardest days of the school year can become some of the most enjoyable.
