How to Upload Photos to iCloud

    To free up your local storage on your iPad or iPhone, backing up your Photos in iCloud is very handy because then you can free your local repository without any hesitation.

    Even more, if a picture is in iCloud, you can access the image from multiple devices, which makes uploading photos to iCloud a very reliable solution. In this way, you can also prevent losing any of your precious memory by saving it in iCloud.

    Now, there are multiple ways to upload a photo to iCloud. Here in this article, we have discussed a few methods to upload images to iCloud. However, the most effective method to upload a Photo to iCloud would be to use a Web browser and access the iCloud site.

    Web browsers are available on all devices, from smartwatches to android. Hence the web browser method can be applied anywhere to upload photos to iCloud. To do so, follow the steps mentioned below.

    • Firstly, open up the Web Browser on whatever device you are using. If possible, use Firefox or Chrome-based Browser such as brave, opera, etc. Go to the URL bar in the web browser and type the URL www.icloud.com and visit the site.
    • Rather than directly going to the site, you could also use a search engine like google to search for the cloud, which will show you the icloud.com website. In the iCloud web app, fill in your credentials such as Apple ID and Password and log in to your iCloud account.
    • Once you are logged in, you can access all the previously uploaded photos and videos from your iCloud. To upload more pics, click on the upload button, select the images you want to upload shortly after the pictures are uploaded in your iCloud.

    How to Upload Photos to iCloud From your iPhone and iPad

    • Firstly, open up the Settings on your iPhone or iPad, then click on the General option. On the General Settings page, click on your Profile option at the top.

    • On your Profile Settings, select the iCloud option, tap on the Photos app from the list of the Apps using iCloud. Now in the Photos settings, toggle on the iCloud Photos Sharing opportunity. Once toggled, all the photos on your device will be automatically synced uploaded to your iCloud.

    • There is two option to choose from to select the storage method. You can select the Optimize iPad/iPhone Storage option if you want your photos to be uploaded and deleted in your local storage. Select the Download and Keep Originals option if you wish your images uploaded in your iCloud but not to be deleted in your local repository.
    • Also, ensure that the iCloud Photos Library option is toggled on in the Photos Settings to ensure that the videos and photos automatically upload into your iCloud account.

    How to Upload Photos to iCloud From Mac

    Using a Mac to upload photos to iCloud is the easiest method because you will have to drag and drop images and videos to a folder on your Mac to add them to your iCloud. To do so, follow the steps mentioned below.

    • Firstly, open up the Photos application on your Mac device, then on the top menu bar, click on the Photos option, and select the Preferences option from the submenu.

    • In the Photos preferences window, click on the iCloud tab located at the top of the Window. Ensure that the iCloud Photos option is checked, and then select your preferred method on how you want to store the photos in iCloud.
    • You can select Optimize Mac Settings to upload high-resolution images in your iCloud, or you could also set the Download and Keep Originals option to upload the original images to your iCloud account. Once done, all the photos and videos present on your Mac device will be uploaded and synced to iCloud.

    How to Upload Photos to iCloud Using Windows

    Even if you don't have an Apple product, you could use other devices like Linux and windows to upload Photos to your iCloud account. However, before proceeding to the steps, download the iCloud application for Windows from here and install it on your PC.

    • Press the Windows Key on your Keyboard to bring the Start Menu. Click open the iCloud option from the Start Menu to open up the iCloud application.

    • Ensure that you are connected to the internet; the iCloud app would ask you to log in using Apple account credentials such as Apple ID and password, fill in the details, and log into your iCloud account. Once logged in, the app will prompt you to choose options, select the iCloud Photo Sharing option, click on the change button to change the default directory of the shared photos from iCloud.

    • Also, make sure that you have checked the iCloud Photo Library and Upload to My Photo Stream option from the Photos Options prompt. Once done, click on the Done button below.

    • Then on the iCloud app main window, click on the Apply option to configure all the settings. On your iOS device, turn on the iCloud Shared Libray option to ensure this works.

    • Now, to upload more pictures from Windows to your iCloud, select and copy the images that you want to add, then head over to the Pictures folder in your Home folder, there open up the iCloud Photos folder, move to the Upload folder, and paste the images to upload the photos to your iCloud. You can also open up the images in the iCloud app to upload the pictures and videos.
