Unexpected store exception in PC

    An unexpected store exception indicates that the store component of Windows 10 has caught an unexpected exception which results in Store Error. The antivirus software program on the user’s system, be outdated hardware drivers, error in the file system, lock screen app issues or output to an unexpected port can result in the Unexpected Store Exception in the PC.

    Various methods to remove the unexpected store exception in PC are:

    1. Updating the display drivers

    Step 1: Boot the computer to the Safe Mode.

    Step 2: Search Device Manager on the system and click on Manage by opening the menu by right-clicking.

    Step 3: Click on Yes when the UAC or User Account Control Prompt gets displayed and double-click on the Display Adapters option.

    Step 4: Search Device Manager on the system and click on ‘Manage’ by opening the menu by right-clicking.

    Step 5: Uninstall all the entries by using right-click and then selecting ‘Uninstall Device’ and reboot the computer.

    Open the Settings application, click on the Windows Update section, check for the updates and install them.

    Alternatively, the user can visit the website of the manufacturers and download the latest notifications from the Drivers section. After the Drivers are downloaded, install them and reboot the computer.

    2. Running SFC & DISM (To check the faulty system files by running the System File Checker from the Command Prompt window)

    Step 1: Press the WINKEY + X button combo or right-click on the Start button and run the Command Prompt (Admin) by using right-click and selecting Run as Administrator.

    Step 2: Select Yes on the UAC or User Account Control prompt and the Command Prompt window will open.

    Step 3: Type the following command in the command prompt and press enter

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    Step 4: Next, type the following command and press enter-

    sfc /scannow

    Step 5: Restart the computer to display the changes on the system.

    After restart, if the system displays the message:

    3. Turning off Fast Start-up

    Fast Start-up enables the user to boot their computer faster and turning it on can result in the lag of some drivers when the system boots up which can also result in the same error. For turning off Fast Start-up, the user can follow the following steps:

    Step 1: Press WINKEY + R or search Control Panel in the search bar and launch the Control Panel application.

    Step 2: Select the Change settings that are currently unavailable option in the Control Panel.

    Step 3: Uncheck the ‘Turn on Fast Start-up’ option in the list and restart your computer to see the effect.

    4. Miscellaneous fixes

    Users can try to check the drive’s health in the Disk Management section.

    Step 1: Select the PC/Computer icon and click on ‘Manage’ by using the Right-Click.

    Step 2: Select the option ‘Disk Management’ on the left side panel.

    Step 3: Check the partitions and if they are in good condition, then there must be some physical issues with the installed hard drive on the system.

    Alternatively, the user can try running the command in the command prompt as well:

    chkdsk /f /r

    There can be error due to the third-party antivirus software program installed on the system such as MCAfee. The users can try disabling or uninstalling the third-party antivirus program on the user’s system and the restart the device to see the changes.

    5. Reset or Reinstall Windows 10

    If nothing works till now, the user can also try reinstalling the Windows without full-disk swipe by following the steps below-

    Step 1: Open ‘Windows Settings’ by right-clicking the ‘Start Menu’ and clicking ‘Settings.’

    Step 2: Select the option ‘Recovery’ under the ‘Update & Security’ panel and then click on the ‘Get Started’.

    Step 3: Select the desired option for either keeping the files or wiping the hard drive and start again.

    The Windows will begin the reset process and once the entire process is completed on the system, many common problems of the device will be resolved.

    6. Check Your System Hardware

    There is no obvious cause of the ‘Unexpected store exception in PC BSOD’ error but one of the significant causes online is the hardware faults. Therefore, the user must get checked the hardware of the system if the errors like this occur. The user should check the hard drive of the device to check if this is the cause and if it is the cause of the error, the user should get the files backed up because if the driver of the system will fail, it will be impossible to recover the files from the drive. The Graphics Cards system and the system memory can also be the significant cause of the BSOD error which can be tested by using the tools such as memtest or the software, for example, FurMark for testing the graphic card of the system.
