Gmail has become the household name today. Like it was with brands like Xerox and Colgate whose names became the synonyms for their products, Gmail has become more or less a synonym or for email. It is very rare that we find anyone using other email providers like Yahoo mail or Hotmail. The only ones having it are mostly the ones who have had it since the early 2000s.

Gmail has plenty of features, that is, even without taking into account the add-ons and extensions. Mastering even a few of these settings might help us take full advantage of everything that Gmail has to offer.

So, in this article, we will cover a few Gmail Tips that will make you enjoy Gmail even more.

Google Pay Send (which was previously called Google Wallet) is built into Gmail. You can click on the dollar sign icon which is at the bottom of a message to send or ask for money.

You and the other person need to have a Google Pay Send account along with the right banking details, also the Google Pay Send settings for "Send money using Gmail" has to be enabled. You can send or receive $ 9,999 max.

    2. You Can Use Multiple Gmail Accounts

    Use multiple gmail accounts

If you are very frequent on Gmail and have multiple accounts on it, then you don't need to sign in and out constantly. You can sign into multiple accounts at once on your browser (be it on chrome, firefox, etc); every account can be signed in on different tabs and stay that way.

You can just click on your account avatar on the top of your screen and change your accounts from there. If you want to switch between accounts, click on the avatar and choose the account you want to open, no password will be required.

    3. You Can Add Other Accounts to Gmail With Gmailify

If you have an email on other email providers like Yahoo, Hotmail, etc, and don't want to leave the account even though you like the interface of Gmail. We have good news for you. Google allows you to add third-party email accounts to the Gmail mobile app, which brings in Google the experience of the Gmail interface.

For this, to work you need to first have one Gmail account. Now you can set it up on your mobile, just select your avatar in the Gmail app and click on Add another account. Then pick the type of account that you want to add and enter your details. Then you can access one inbox at a time, or you might see your email in one unified inbox on your phone or tablet.

To deactivate or delete the account you can just go to your avatar and click on "Manage accounts on this device".

Now on the desktop, click on the Gear icon and select Settings then Accounts and Import then go to Check mail from other accounts and Add a mail account. A window pops up, here type in the email address you want to link, then click Next, and select Link account with Gmail. And now your old account is Gmailified.

    4. You Can Move Messages to Different Accounts

    move message between gmail accounts

Although you can log into different Gmail accounts at once on the PC and the mobile, only the iOS Mail app allows you to move a message received on one Gmail account to another account. This becomes very useful in the case of business emails, as when they are sent to your personal account you can very easily transfer them.

To make this move, open any inbox. When you are inside a message, tap the folder icon; If you’re checking the list, click on Edit, select the messages that you want to be moved, and then tap Move. Then Click Accounts at the top and choose the destination account of the message, then choose the label or folder within that account where you want to move it. This process is instantaneous.

    5. Don't Just Label Spam, Block Users

Gmail allows you to block single users, so if anyone is bothering you, you can just opt to block that account. Select the three-dot menu next to the reply icon, the options appear, from here choose Block (Username). Now, any messages from that account would be sent directly to your spam folder.

    6. How to 'Undo Send' in Gmail

We know how cautious we have to be before pressing send on the mail. Gmail has a provision for adding a buffer to recall a mistakenly sent message. The feature, dubbed as Undo Send, is now on by default and it cannot be deactivated.

Although you can adjust the time you get to unsend an email. Click on the Gear icon and select Settings then General and then Undo Send and click on the drop-down menu to choose the amount of time you want to have to be able to undo a sent message. Now you can scroll down and Save Changes. After this, whenever you send a message, there will be an Undo link in a black box floating at the lower-left of the screen on PC and the lower-right on mobile phones.

Clicking on the link before the time runs out will make Gmail unsend the message. You can edit or even delete it.

    7. Dots Are an Illusion

One of the best-known all-time secrets about Gmail is that it ignores full stops in the email address. For instance, name@gmail.com is the same as n.a.m.e@gmail.com. They are received by the same person. Although this might seem like a useless feature, you can still see the pattern, so you can use this to sign up for a newsletter or give away your email address - you can find out who has let your mail out to the spammers.

    8. Power Your Search

    power search in gmail

Gmail does a quick power search if you press the down arrow in the search bar, which produces the search dialog box. But Gmail supports many search operators. For instance, type "in:trash" and "in:spam" to cover those folders in a search (they're usually ignored). Or you can reduce the domain of the search to just "in:inbox" Use "label:" followed by the label/folder name to only search that folder.

The "filename:" if followed by the actual file's name finds specific attachments.

You can use a minus sign (hyphen) to search one thing and ignore the other: "Night -dinner" would only find messages that say "night," but skip any mentioning "dinner." The other Boolean operator supported is "OR" (all caps). The full list has many more options.
