Definition

A Ph.D. is a doctoral degree that is obtained after finishing extensive research on a particular topic for 3 or more years. In some other countries, a Ph.D. is also referred to as DPhil or Ph.D.

Previously, a candidate could have completed his/her PhD through the distance mode, but after the notice by the UGC in 2017, a PhD degree obtained through distance education will not be recognized.
