The United States of America or the USA is a country of North America, which is a federal republic of 50 states. There are 48 conterminous states and Alaska is included in it along with the island of Hawaii. On the north, it is bordered by Canada, on the east, by the Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico on the South and by the Pacific Ocean on the West. The capital of the USA is Washington, D.C.

To elect the President and Vice President of the country, the citizens of the USA who have completed 18 years of age can vote. As of June 2022, the current president of the USA is Joe Biden.

The country's law-making body or legislature is the Congress of the United States. There are two houses in it:

  • The Senate
  • The House of Representatives.

Therefore this is known as a bicameral legislature.

In this system, there are 100 senators; 2 from each state. The total representatives are 435. There are 9 justices in the Supreme Court of the USA who are selected by the president but must be approved by Congress.
