GATE Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE is an entrance exam conducted annually for admission to various post-graduate programs in science and technology in India. Conducted and supervised jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and the seven IITs on behalf of the Department of Higher Education, and the Ministry of Human Resource Department (HRD) Government of India.

GATE exam

Conducted every year in the month of January and February, it is a single computer-based paper of 3 hours duration. The GATE paper mainly tests the comprehensive understanding of the candidate in undergraduate subjects of engineering. Valid for three years, the GATE scores reflect the relative performance of a candidate in a specific branch.

GATE: Criteria

  • GATE applicants must be graduated from a recognized board or university or studying in the last year of the engineering course i.e. B.E. B. Arch, B. Tech, etc.
  • Master's degree holders in any branch of Mathematics/ Statistics/ Science/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs.
  • Applicants who have been qualified by professional societies recognized by AICTE / UPSC (for example AMICE, AMIE) are equivalent to B.E., B.Tech.

How to Apply For Gate Exams?

  • Candidates must register via the GOAPS site by submitting their name, email address, and cell phone number. On completion of the registration process, an enrollment number will be generated. Create a password for login purposes to continue the GATE exam process.
  • Complete Application Form Sign in and complete the required fields with your personal, educational, and contact information. In addition, college information and a valid photo ID must be included on the application form. In addition, it was necessary to select the GATE exam paper and test location based on personal taste.
  • Upload Scanned Images: The photograph, signature, and (if applicable) category certificate must be scanned and uploaded in accordance with the authorities' instructions.
  • Payment of Application Fees: To complete the application procedure for the GATE exam, the application fee must be paid online using net banking/debit card/credit card, based on the applicant's category.
